- I've just installed the latest Xfree86 for ISC 2.2 from
- blancmange.ma.utexas.edu and I'm having a few problems with it.
-
- When I start xterms (either from .xinitrc or manually) neither LINES
- or COLUMNS environment variables get created. I have tried running
- resize, it displays the proper sizes, but variables still do not get
- set. There was no problem with this in the X11R3 that came with ISC, and
- if I use the xterm program from the ISC distribution, the LINES and
- COLUMNS variables get created and set properly. However, that xterm
- is unstable (understandably) under XFree86.
-
- Any ideas? Its kind of a pain to have to manually set these everytime
- I create a term.
-
-
- Also, my mouse, an Amazing 3 button mouse doesn't work properly. The
- manual states that it is a 2 button MS serial mouse by default and requires
- a mode change via software to make it a 3 button mouse systems mouse.
- If I set Xconfig to use Micrsoft 2 button its OK, but if I set MouseSystems
- it pointer goes to the bottom left corner and stays there.
- It would be nice to get the third button working, is it possible? Or
- should I just junk it and get a new one?
-
- Thanks for any help...Charles
-
- P.S. The README mentions X386man pages. I've hunted for them but can't
- find them, where are they?
