- Hi,
- we are using SUN OS 4.1.[1-3], OpenWindows 3 and MIT X11R5, especially
- xdm, here.
- Everything works quite well, but now we encountered a big problem and
- we really do not know at all what is going wrong. I'll try to describe it:
-
- We use the xnews XServer and start it from the XServer-script with the
- option -fromxdm, as it is done in the XStartOW-script provided from
- Sun. The xnews Server belongs then, after login, to the user who logged in, as
- it should be. OK, this worked fine until now, but now the following happens:
- If the user who logs in is in more than four groups, the switchuid is not
- done to the user id but to the group id of the fifth group (even if he/she
- is in more than five groups).
-
- Does anyone out there know this behaviour? Is it a known bug or -- even better --
- is there a fix for it? What about the undocumented "-fromxdm" feature? What
- is it for?
-
- Thanks for reading all this, I would be really glad if anyone could help us...
-
- Ulli
