  15. Hi,
  16.   we are using SUN OS 4.1.[1-3], OpenWindows 3 and MIT X11R5, especially
  17. xdm, here.
  18. Everything works quite well, but now we encountered a big problem and
  19. we really do not know at all what is going wrong. I'll try to describe it:

  21. We use the xnews XServer and start it from the XServer-script with the
  22. option -fromxdm, as it is done in the XStartOW-script provided from
  23. Sun. The xnews Server belongs then, after login, to the user who logged in, as
  24. it should be. OK, this worked fine until now, but now the following happens:
  25. If the user who logs in is in more than four groups, the switchuid is not
  26. done to the user id but to the group id of the fifth group (even if he/she
  27. is in more than five groups).

  29. Does anyone out there know this behaviour? Is it a known bug or -- even better --
  30. is there a fix for it? What about the undocumented "-fromxdm" feature? What
  31. is it for?
