  28. Sounds rather high.

  30. With xnews, olvwm, console, two cmdtools, clock, two perfmeters,
  31. mailtool, answerbook, xvnews (the newsreader), textedit, filemgr,
  32. framemaker with five documents open and backing store enabled (the
  33. executable alone is 3MB), calendar manager, cdplayer, and a full-screen
  34. background image loaded with XV, I'm only using a total of 29 MB virtual memory
  35. (allocated+reserved):

  38.   25460k allocated + 3720k reserved = 29180k used, 121336k available
  39.  
  40. The system is SPARC 2, 4.1.2/OW3.0 + a few patches, GENERIC_SMALL-based
  41. kernel with maxusers bumped up and tempfs enabled (unpatched). Try a
  42. few patches for the memory pigs (use ps -ux). In particular 100444-28
  43. (xnews), and 100452-20 (xview library) might be useful, if they haven't
  44. be bundled in 4.1.3. The latest ld.so patch (100257-04) could help
  45. too. (I'm just guessing.)
