- HelP! p! I know this is a technical question ... yet I don't know
- where else I might post it.
- I've got a demo system that I use to carry to workshop sites -
- to teach current & prospective users of our educational telecom
- network how to use it. This demo is run on a Zenith 386/16 (old),
- with SCO Xenix 386 op sys and a Chase (marketted by MicroWay)
- AT16 serial card (16 ports). It's always worked well until
- yesterday. As we were prepping by plugging serial cables from
- the Macs to be used to the terminal block, 4 were in & the 5th
- cable was in hand. As my colleague tried to plug it in, SPARKS
- FLEW. I've been doing this for 8 years & have NEVER seen sparks
- come from a serial connetion.
-
- As we looked for damage, the only visible damage was the burn
- marks ... on the connector screws BUT not on the DB25 pin connectors.
-
- We proceeded ... using only the 4 Macs already connected. All
- worked well. Evidiently the sparks didn't go beyond the screw.
- The greatest damage, I think, was to my confidence level. ANYbody
- got any ideas???? Please send them to my mailbox:

- Thanks in advance!!!!

- ps: that cable was actually 3 cables chained together... 2
- 10' and 1 6'.
