- Hi. I've been running SCO Xenix 2.3.1 on a '386 for nearly a year now,
- with no major problems. Why 2.3.1? Well, I rescued it from a
- dumpster. Talk about a great deal.
-
- I've been talking to several different systems via a 2400 bps modem
- during that time. It's time to upgrade to 9600. No reason to re-write
- the wheel here. So. There are a lot of 9600 bps modems out there.
- They're as cheap as my 2400 was when I bought it. Hell, they're
- cheaper than my first 1200 was. But so many...proprietary chipsets
- undoubtedly, non-standard codes, etc. are something I'd like to avoid.
- What's my best choice for a modem? What's good and bad?
