- Umm, I don't think it was even the case in 3.x - or 2.x, for that matter
- - that NFS writes were synchronous on the client side. The 4.x VM
- system is irrelevant to the discussion; 3.x and earlier releases used
- the traditional UNIX buffer cache scheme for I/O, both on local file
- systems and over NFS.
