  13. I _know_ this has been asked before, but it has been awhile
  14. since I saw any info on it. And lucky me, now I have one.
  15. This is not on the ultrix or X FAQ except for a tiny note in the
  16. ultrix FAQ:

  21. This is an under-statement.

  23. My question is does anyone out there have a patch or kludge
  24. that allows the MIT X11R5 Xdec server to be correctly used
  25. with the MX card?

  27. Xdec -class StaticGray doesn't work. It thinks its a color card
  28. but then displays only the low bit. Neither do any of the other
  29. classes. Although you get some interesting results.

  31. I've seen a previous post about this describing _why_ this happens
  32. (something about the MX card having a pixel stride of 8).  But this
  33. post was from January, and surely someone has come up with a kludge
  34. fix for this so I don't have to run DEC's server and educate users
  35. that "this machine has an unsuppported graphics card so you have to
  36. write an .xserverrc which checks the hostname and runs the DEC server"

  38. Someone ordered this card out of cost reasons, and now I'm just
  39. trying to cleanly support it.
