- Looking for Information
- =======================
-
- A few weeks ago I heard a statement at our local university, that
- the IPC-modules semaphores, shared memory and message queues have
- been integrated into System V in a very poor way.
- This means, that integration of these kernel modules into the overall
- concept of Unix, the way they did it in System V, introduces some
- problems, like a missing "select"-call on message queues or a notification,
- when a process was killed. A possible explanation for this could
- be, that these modules have been designed as a temporary solution,
- but not as a permanent part of System V.
-
- I'm interested in any reference or literature concerning this
- statement or any related stuff. I want to use it for a project
- I'm working on at the moment.
-
- Thanks in advance for any replies.

- Jan.
