  13. I'm having a lot of trouble with DELL 2.2 and my HP IIP on a
  14. parallel port. Using lp, files print but incredibly slowly. I
  15. printed a .login file (about 700 bytes) and it took over half
  16. an hour. The banner page came out after about 10 minutes. I
  17. could see from the front panel of the HP that data started
  18. reaching it immediately after the lp command.

  20. Dell tech support walked me through a re-installation of the
  21. printer and had me crimp the cable connectors to insure a
  22. good ground... all with the expected results :-). We also
  23. booted DOS and did a print-screen which worked perfectly.

  25. Also, showcfg doesn't see the parallel port initially, but after
  26. lp starts to print the file, it does (??).

  30.     clone par/ser card.
  31.     ATI Graphics Ultra
  32.     Adaptec 1542
