- I'm having a lot of trouble with DELL 2.2 and my HP IIP on a
- parallel port. Using lp, files print but incredibly slowly. I
- printed a .login file (about 700 bytes) and it took over half
- an hour. The banner page came out after about 10 minutes. I
- could see from the front panel of the HP that data started
- reaching it immediately after the lp command.
-
- Dell tech support walked me through a re-installation of the
- printer and had me crimp the cable connectors to insure a
- good ground... all with the expected results :-). We also
- booted DOS and did a print-screen which worked perfectly.
-
- Also, showcfg doesn't see the parallel port initially, but after
- lp starts to print the file, it does (??).
-
- My hardware:
- clone 486/50
- clone par/ser card.
- ATI Graphics Ultra
- Adaptec 1542
-
- Any ideas?
