  17. I am afraid I cannot help, but I can report that the problem exists with my
  18. Trident 8900C as well.  I can use X and Motif as higher resolutions than
  19. standard VGA, but like you, when I exit X I need to reboot to use the console
  20. again.  This happened with just vanilla X and twm under 4.0.3 and I still have
  21. the problem with 4.0.4.

  23. I too would love to know what the cause of this problem is.  I have posted
  24. twice before asking for help but unfortunately, it was to no avail.
