- Hola, All!
-
- I don't know if this is the area to ask this question or not, but I have some
- very specific needs for an Internet connection. I belong to an organization
- that would like to get grant funding for an Internet connection, and we have
- the necessary papers to get the funding, now all we need is some information.
- Specifically:
-
- We want to fire up a UNIX box running 386BSD, with telnettable and FTPable
- access from the outside world. We want this Unix box to be able to talk to a
- 900Mb DOS box, either by serial link, or by LAN link, to share files that
- exist on the DOS box, but not the Unix box. The DOS box is running a three
- line dialup BBS at this time, and we'd like the DOS box's filebase to be
- accessable to the internet for FTP/Telnet purposes. Also, from the Unix side,
- if it would be possible for someone calling in on a Telnet connection to
- access the DOS BBS. If it's possible to get all this WITHOUT a Unix box, then
- that would be great, but something tells me it isn't. The Unix system (if
- needed) would also act as a Usenet gateway for the organization in question.
-
- Has anyone done a porposal like this before? Is it possible? What sort of
- hardware/software are needed for a 19,200 bps Internet link? Does anyone have
- somewhere I can go for more information? Prices on Hardware/software?
-
- Any help anyone can give me would be appreciated.
-
- Cheers,
- Rich W.
