  12. hello.  i seek assistance with two tasks, and i wonder if someone can
  13. help.

  15. task 1: i want to redirect console output to a file.  the reason is that
  16. i will start a download process (perhaps thrity or forty mintues worth)
  17. at bedtime, and then return eight hours later to find a flood of talk
  18. requests and the like.  it would be nice to capture this into a file
  19. to peruse at my leisure.

  21. task 2: i would like to set up (via xwindows, or perhaps not) a plan to
  22. use one window/tty for input, and another for output (similar tot eh
  23. talk split-screen.

  25. would anyone know if/how these can be done?
