  11. Below are the results of an IOZONE auto.
  12. they are from the same hardware, without rebooting.
  13. they are from two different filesystems on the same disk.
  14. One is an 8k filesystem (/usr on ref.tfs.com) and the other
  15. is a 4kfilesystem (/usr/home on ref.tfs.com)
  16.  
  17. notice that one gives about twice the performance of the other.
  18. notice also the effect of disk caching etc. on the figures for small
  19. files.(especially writes).

  21. This leads me to 2 conclusions:
  22. if not all information is given, benchmarks are dangerous.

  26. my driver is not as slow as eoahmad said it was 8-)

  100. Note: this hardware runs a LITTLE faster (I think) under MACH 2.6
  101. (same hardware.. results later maybe)
  102.  MACH can get 2MB/sec to a ST42400 2GB drive and about 1.2MB/sec 
  103.  to this drive.
