- I've decided to give 386BSD 0.1 a try, but I can't get the Tiny 386BSD
- floppy to boot on my system. I downloaded dist.fs from agate.berkeley.edu,
- did a rawrite to a 3.5" floppy, and cold booted, but the A drive light just
- glows and nothing ever happens. No disk activity, as far as I can tell.
-
- I tried this with several different diskettes, assuming that maybe the first
- disk was bad, but this was to no avail.
-
- I also downloaded dist.fs from the unofficial/newbootables/cgd directory,
- which is supposed to be a patched bootable distribution, but I still have
- the same problems.
-
- My system config:
-
- Gateway 4DX2-66V (Micronics VL-Bus motherboard)
- 8MB
- ATI Ultra Pro LB with memory aperture starting at 10MB
- 340MB Quantum IDE hard drive
-
- I've also tried slowing the system down to 8MHz during boot and have
- disabled the BIOS Shadowing. No luck. Actually, now that I think about it,
- I didn't slow the system down and try to boot the patched (cgd) dist.fs,
- but somehow I don't have much faith that this would solve the problem.
-
- Has anyone been able to get 386BSD 0.1 running on a similar system?
-
- BTW, Linux 0.98 pl1 runs fine on this system....
-
- Thanks for the info, in advance.
