- Ok, the time has come. My bank account is screaming in agony at the
- thought of the up coming dollar-ectamy, but it's inevitable now.
-
- I'm going to buy a 486 to run 386BSD, but I've got a few questions
- first.
-
- 1) Can IDE controllers and SCSI controllers (Adaptec 1542B) be used
- in the same machine?
-
- 2) How long will it be before VESA support is rolled in to 386BSD?
- (The price difference is not that big $100-$200 and there's a
- HUGE difference in graphics throughput)
-
- 3) Does anyone have a favorite mail-order place that has good
- prices?
-
- 4) Does anyone know of any place to definitely avoid?
-
- 5) Does anyone know of any computers (or motherboards) to prefer
- or avoid?
-
- BTW, I'm an experienced 386BSD person. I borrowed a 386-40 and I'm
- using it with very few problems. But it's time to get my own }:-)
