- Setting the density to 16 on the RS6000 causes the
- drive to write tapes in QIC 150 (150 Meg) format. Setting
- the density to 15 causes the drive to write tapes in QIC 120 (125 Meg)
- format. You cannot write QIC 24 (60 Meg) format tapes on the
- standard QIC tpae drive that comes with the RS6000. You can
- read QIC 24 tapes.

- I suspect that the RT has a QIC 24 tape drive which
- would produce the result that you describe. Thus you can
- transfer data from the RT to the RS6000 but not the reverse.
