- Greetings,
-
- We recently had a situation where we had a disk go bad (non ibm) on
- one of our afs file servers (rs6k model 530). We wanted to try and "fix" the bad block so we could access the remainder of the logical volume.
- Disk certify would only go 75% of the way into the disk and then re-
- cycle. fsck'ing the disk did not help either. Those of you using afs know that
- we HAVE to use the AFS version of v3fshelper, not that I think that mattered.
- We called IBM and although very helpful considering this was a Box
- Hill disk, could not give us any tools that would fix the bad blok without
- hosing the rest of the disk.
- Does anyone out there know of anything?. I was looking into fsdb which
- looks abit complicated but might work?
- One other question, can anyone tell me where to get the tool to decipher
- the sense data that errpt -a puts out?.
- It sure would be helpful as our other disk in the same housing is
- starting to complain.
- Please send replys to me direct.
- Thanks in advance for any assistance
