- Hmm.. I dunno. From where *I* am, knowing that the vendor cares enough to
- ship me another patch tape every 2 months improves my confidence.
-
- I've never heard MVS flagged as a "buggy" operating system - but IBM was
- shipping a PUT tape *EVERY MONTH* for about 20 years (Consider that OS/360
- finally stabilized at MVT 21.8F or so - that's a *lot* of update tapes),
- and I was still getting monthly PUT tapes for our OS/VS1 system in 1989 -
- for a operating system announced in 1972.
-
- Of course, by 1987 or so, the VS/1 update tapes only had a *new* bugfix
- on them every 2-3 months - and it would be some obscure thing that
- would only bite on rare occasions at some sites.
-
- Now, if you want to talk about the fact that the monthly update tapes
- have *too many* fixes on them to be confident, that's a DIFFERENT
- issue... ;)
