  27. We had a similiar problem when we installed 3.2.2.

  29. IBM did the incredible thing of removing calls from libC.a.  Ack!
  30.  
  31. Recompiling xdm fixed it.

  33. I bet you are using the X11R5 xdm.  It will NOT work properly under
  34. 3.2.2 because of the above problem.

  36. IBM decided to rewrite their version of xdm to work with the new 3.2.2
  37. libc. How incredibly stupid. (And how typical) :-(

  39. The calls missing from the "new and improved" libc are the crypt and
  40. decrypt calls.  This broke a bunch of our other software, too.

  42. How does this kind of crap get through a review process at IBM?  How
  43. could anyone approve changes of this kind to libc?

  45. By the way, the documentation still lists this call.
