  20. Shouldn't this man page have been distributed with the fix(es)??? There are
  21. massive changes to the automounter options since the man page provided with
  22. AIX 3.2 .

  24. The automounter under 3.2.x has been a real headache for us. In the past 3
  25. months we have installed about 3 different updates, each of which was supposed
  26. to fix the problems (and none of which contained the new man page). We are now 
  27. at the stage where most things work OK. The one remaining bug (that we know 
  28. about), however, is a real problem. Our direct map entries are names in / 
  29. (though I don't know if this actually makes any difference, and no, we can't 
  30. change it), and using "df" causes the automounter to start mounting all 80 of 
  31. them! Needless to say, this makes "df" useless (not to mention that you then 
  32. have 80 more NFS mounts from all over the net!).

  34. This works just fine on our Suns. It even works on our Convexes, which are 
  35. running a 2-year-old version of automount! We have never had any problems with 
  36. these Convexes and automount, but here in late 1992 it has taken IBM several 
  37. tries to even come close to getting it right. I am not impressed.
