- Unix systems are cheap enough these days that you can maybe buy yourself a
- system and "learn at home." If you can't afford a 486-50 Intel box, then
- try and find someone trying to unload an old Sun 3 or something...
-
- Then hook the power plug into the wall outlet in your room that is
- controlled by the light switch by your door. Then after your
- Mum/Dad/SO/roommate accidently turns that switch off a few times, you'll
- probably learn system administration real fast.
-
- After that, get a phone line and a modem and give out accounts to any BBS
- user in your area that wants a Unix account. Before long, they will gain
- root access and start planting trojans everywhere. It's a fun game, try
- and stay a step ahead of them.
-
- Trial by fire -- the best method. At least this way, you won't get
- fired for your failures! :-)
