- TIA All,
-
- I have been asked to provide a network-based backup service for the approx.
- 200 Mac and DOS PCs and UNIX workstations (SUN/HP/SGI) on our ethernet and am
- looking for a reliable and easy to manage solution. The Macs have MacTCP
- installed and the PCs use PC-NFS. The server is envisioned to be SUNOS based
- with an 8mm stacker and software that is simple enough that our operator would
- be able to manage the day to day aspects of the service including the addition
- or deletion of clients. The client software should be all-but-invisible to
- the users.
-
- So far, I've identified SM-arch (Software Moguls@612-933-8790) as a potential
- candidate (except for a lack of support for SGI.) I'm looking for suggestions
- and comments from anyone with experience with SM-arch or similar products.
-
- Reply by mail, I will summarize gratefully.
