  17. Makeindex defaults to LaTeX mode, but you can get a set of macros
  18. called index.tex which let you use makeindex with plain TeX with no
  19. changes via anonymous ftp from lifshitz.ph.utexas.edu in /texsis/index.

  21. The complete sources for makeindex are also there, in a compressed
  22. tar file, and there is a PostScript version of the paper documenting 
  23. makeindex.
