- Or, for those of you who like us don't have the costly
- "catalog" feature, try this:
-
- - Create a file whose intended use is nothing more than
- to hold these referenced entities (for neatness' sake).
-
- - Create an autonumber, then edit the properties of that
- autonumber to reflect whatever; e.g. release number,
- version number, etc. NOTE: the referenced item here
- MUST have a number in it somewhere (not a problem for
- us).
-
- - Close the props sheet, and with the autonumber highlighted,
- do an "autoref" to it. Paste that autoref in whatever
- doc(s) need it.
-
- - To change all occurrences, merely update the props of
- the autonumber.
-
- I use this technique for the Course Name (our courses have
- a number in 'em), Release Version & Date, company part
- number, etc. Works well, and costs less. However, it
- is somewhat limiting: 15 char prefix, 15 char suffix, and
- MUST have a number imbedded. Still, works for us.
-
- Your mileage may vary.
