- Yes. There are several versions. I use MS-Kermit for MessyDOS
- systems, and c-kermit on UNIX. They have completely different
- source as the MS-kermit is written largely in assembler, and
- c-kermit is written in (surprise), C. Both these version support
- large packet sizes and sliding windows and give good transfer
- rates (I get around 860cps on a V.32 9600 baud connection and
- higher with V.32bis).
-
- :school I use kermit to transfer file from my PC to mainframe. I heard from
- :someone in eariler articles saying that Kermit program can also display tek
- :4014 grahpics. Could someone explain to me what's the differences between the
- :kermit I use to transfer files and the MS-Kermit?
-
- MS-kermit does do Tek emulation in addition to it's default
- VT220. The VT220 emulation also has key-bindings to support
- WordPerfect well under DOS. Function keys work normally (as
- opposed to procomm where hitting F1 gets me a procomm menu rather
- then send the F1 sequence).
-
- Kermit is a communications protocol that was developed to allow
- file transfers between various kinds of machines ranging from main
- frames to CP/M, AppleII.... Many communications program support
- the basic kermit protocols, but usually not very well.
-
- Binaries and sources are available from many ftp sites including
- uunet.
