  17. Yes.  There are several versions.  I use MS-Kermit for MessyDOS
  18. systems, and c-kermit on UNIX.  They have completely different
  19. source as the MS-kermit is written largely in assembler, and
  20. c-kermit is written in (surprise), C.  Both these version support
  21. large packet sizes and sliding windows and give good transfer
  22. rates (I get around 860cps on a V.32 9600 baud connection and
  23. higher with V.32bis).

  30. MS-kermit does do Tek emulation in addition to it's default
  31. VT220.  The VT220 emulation also has key-bindings to support
  32. WordPerfect well under DOS.  Function keys work normally (as
  33. opposed to procomm where hitting F1 gets me a procomm menu rather
  34. then send the F1 sequence).

  36. Kermit is a communications protocol that was developed to allow
  37. file transfers between various kinds of machines ranging from main
  38. frames to CP/M, AppleII....  Many communications program support
  39. the basic kermit protocols, but usually not very well.
