- Hi there,
-
- We have produced an in-house code with a large amount of interactive
- graphics. The code was developed on an IBM RISC station with an SGI card and
- using SGL for the graphics. We now want to integrate this code into our main
- Sun network and NFS system. The code will never be fixed and major revisions
- can be expected every few months from the author.
-
- Our original plan was run the code on a number of stand alone IRIS
- Indigo R4000 XS connected via an ethernet to the Sun network using the IRIS
- stations as X_terminals when accessing other codes from the Sun network and
- only ever using the CPU of the IRIS stations to run the SGL based code.
-
- I recently heard that the Silicon Graphics Library had been released
- as an open product and might be available for the Sun.
-
- Questions:
-
- 1) Are we correct, is SGL available now or in the near future for
- the Sun (specifically a Sparc 10 station)?
-
- 2) If it is or will be available who do we contact to get further
- information?
-
- 3) What other steps can we take to improve the graphics performance
- of a sparc 10 to match or better that of an Indigo XS 4000. ie
- graphics cards etc.
-
- I doubt if this information is or much interest to many others so can you
- mail any information, suggestions tou have to me at src@jet.uk (internet)
- and if any one else if interested let me know and I will pass on anything
- that I find out.
-
- Thanks in advance
