  18. The kernel I am running right now runs both SLIP and PPP.  However, I have
  19. not been too happy with the user-side interface.  I'd like to have both
  20. dial-in and dial-out options available, and one of the problems I've run
  21. into is the lack of programs which handle carrier loss in an appropriate
  22. fashion (ie, pop the slip streams drivers off, kill the route, and exit) -
  23. I was working on this many months ago and had written some promising code
  24. until I decided it would be easier to let the Sun use it's serial ports for
  25. normal uses, pop an Ethernet card in a PC, and gain higher speed SLIP/PPP
  26. capability while eliminating the occasional kernel panics I was inflicting
  27. on a machine many people use.

  29. It would still be nice to have a reliable dial-in SLIP/PPP capability
  30. that can handle carrier loss correctly.  Does anybody know of a package
  31. that will handle this?

  33. I believe I got my sources from Colorado SuperNet, but they are the same
  34. sources widely available.  I had to do minor tweaking to encourage consistent
  35. naming of the pseudo-device with the csn package, as I recall.
