- I'm in the process of transfering 14000 1/2" tapes to Exabyte (what a job...)
- Some of the original tapes are 10 years old and have some bad spots.
- I would like to be able to skip those spots and keep reading the rest of the
- data on the tape.
- At this point the tape drive does 20 retries at rading then aborts with an error
- message when it encounters a bad spot. ANY command sent to the tape drive causes
- it to REWIND.
- Is this due to the st (scsi tape) device driver or the way the tape drive is
- configured (by the way i'm using an HP 88780B drive)?
-
- How can i get around this?
-
- Any help will be greatly appreciated.
