- Recently the 141M Toshiba drive in my shoebox stopped booting with a
- message something like "getbyte failed; invalid return ffffffff"
- Now I can't get the drive to boot at all. It is on a SCSI -> EDSI
- adaptor so could it be an adaptor problem?
-
- The strange part is that I can boot from tape and the drive is
- recognized. I even installed the miniroot on the drive and rebooted
- into it. Yet when I turn the drive off then on again, I can no
- longer issue a "b sd(0,0,1) -sw" and boot into miniroot. It fails
- with the same "getbyte failed" message.
-
- Any ideas?
