- You should get the Viking Microprocessor User's Manual. It is available from
- Texas Instrument, the part number for the processor is T.I. TMS390Z50
-
- Also you can get the SPARC RISC USER's GUIDE from Cypress Semiconductor.
- Their phone nuber is (408) 943-2600

- Subject: Instruction Trace Collector for SPARC
- FAQs:
- it's free.
- it's licensed (see below). hardcopy (not email) is required.
- it's not available via ftp. it's shipped on CDROM by default.
- handles V8 SPARC user (not kernel/os) code only.
- no source.

- SPARC Performance Analysis Tools
- Licensing Agreement
-
- Sun Microsystems, Inc. (``Sun'') has developed a set of software
- tools, and related documentation referred to as the SPARC Performance
- Analysis Tools (``the Software''), in our Advanced Systems research group
- which we think may be of interest to you.
- The Software allows an existing SPARC program to be monitored to col-
- lect dynamic instruction characteristics. The Software can be used to col-
- lect standard instruction-level profile information (such as opcode distri-
- butions, branch statistics, function usage), and permits users to develop
- custom instruction-level performance analysis tools (such as cache or pipe-
- line simulators). The method used provides significant speedups over trad-
- itional trace and simulation based approaches.
- The Software is experimental in nature and is provided ``as is'' with
- no warranties of any kind, expressed or implied, including without limita-
- tion, the warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular pur-
- pose.
- Sun is willing to license the Software in binary and limited source
- form solely for the Licensee's internal use. This Software may not be re-
- distributed by the Licensee in either source or binary form.
- In no event will Sun be liable for any indirect, incidental, special
- or consequential damages including, without limitation, loss of revenues,
- profits, data or use incurred by the Licensee or any third party, even if
- Sun has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Sun's maximum li-
- ability for damages shall not exceed the amount of fees paid by the Licen-
- see for the Software.
- This Software is not supported by Sun, except that Sun may answer lim-
- ited inquiries and may, in its sole discretion, respond to requests for bug
- fixes. The Sun contact for such inquiries or requests is Bob Cmelik.
- To receive a copy of the Software, please return an executed copy of
- this license to the address listed below, and the Software will be mailed
- to you.
