- I was able to get Pcomm up and running perfectly fine, thanks to the nice
- comments Emmet put in his release, as well as the sample Makefile and
- config.h he left for other Sun users. (Thanks)
-
- We do have a problem though in getting the system to allow dialins. We
- set up all the files and such as suggested. When a call comes in, the
- (Zoom V.32) modem answers it, the two modems screech and connect, but
- only gibberish seems to end up on the remote end. This is consistant
- for any incoming modem type, at 2400 and 9600 baud. What gives now?
-
- There have been two exciting, but seemingly random, occasions where we
- did get a valid connection (login prompt and all :-) !). On one of
- those occasions, the remote site would get some bogus characters
- scattered within the communications.
-
- Line noise does not seem an issue since we can dial out at 9600 to
- all sorts of sites with no problems. Is this a modem setup issue?
- What sorts of modem config should we be using? Could this be a getty
- issue? How successfully does it detect/understand/utilize the auto-
- baud mechanism?
-
- We realize this is more of a sys-admin question than a Pcomm question,
- but it never hurts to ask the people in the know. Details below...

- Sun 4/110, SunOS 4.1.1, Pcomm 2.0 (no patches yet), Zoom V.32 BIS modem
