-
- Which says
-
- ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
-
- about whether they care that much about BSD vs. SV. It just says that
- they're "familiar" - whatever that means - with a BSD system. They may
- well prefer some particular BSD system to some particular SV system;
- they may well prefer some particular SV system to some particular BSD
- system; they may well find that the differences aren't big enough to
- care about.

- OK, will one of the new DEC Alpha machines, or a MIPS R4000 or future
- R4400 machine, do, once the NT ports to them come out? (You may have to
- wait for full 64-bit support from NT, but then you may have to wait for
- full 64-bit support for OpenVMS(TM) on the Alphas, or UNIX(R) on the
- R4K's, too; OSF/1 on the Alphas is, I think, supposed to fully support
- 64-bit mode out of the box.)

-
- OK, don't keep us in suspense; tell us how many of them would say:
-
- "Ick, Solaris 2.x, it's SV-based!";
-
- "Oh, good, Solaris 2.x, it's SV-based!";
-
- "BSD, SV, I don't care that much, as long as it lets me get my
- job done.";
-
- "Screw that, give me NT, so I can run all those Wonderful
- Microsoft(TM) Windows(TM) applications."; (or is that
- "Microsoft(R) Windows(TM)", or "Microsoft(TM) Windows(R)", or
- "Microsoft(R) Windows(R)"; I forget)
-
- "They all suck, I'm waiting for Pink.";
-
- "MVS - now *there's* an operating system!";
-
- <other>.
