  11. We have a 64MB (memory) 4/490 with four IPI drives that we are using as
  12. a sybase engine.  It is starting to mysteriously hang more and more
  13. often and i am at a loss to explain why.  The console is a wyse
  14. terminal and there are no error messages on the console, no messages in
  15. /usr/adm/messages* and no indications of any kind anywhere else that i
  16. can think of looking that would explain why the machine just simply
  17. stopped working.  Usually there are only a few people working on it,
  18. maybe one or two running elm and news plus a couple of other smallish
  19. programs.  Of course, the sybase server is running all the time.  The
  20. times of the hangs appear random, i.e., during the day, during the
  21. night, during the weekends, etc.

  23. Does anyone have any experience with this?  Sun could only suggest
  24. running vmstat periodically in order to try and track down memory usage
  25. at the time of the crash and also forcing a memory dump next time it
  26. crashes in order to see what routine it is in at the time of the
  27. crash.

  29. We are running 4.1.1 *without* the DBE.
