- We just installed three brand new Fujitsu M2652 on SS2:s (one running 4.1.1, the
- other 4.1.2) and got ourself into trouble. The format and newfs went fine, but
- when copying stuff from the disks they should replace, we run into some mystic
- problems: in the midst of copying, the disk stopped running, but came back up
- again. We thought that this wasn't too good, but proceeded anyway. Well, when
- these disk went into use, they all gave lots of:
-
- SCSI transport failed: reason 'timeout': retrying command
- Error for command 'write'
- Error Level: Retryable
- Block 195504, Absolute Block: 195504
- Sense Key: Not Ready
- Vendor 'FUJITSU' error code: 0x4
-
- 30-40 of these messages appear in the logs. After a while SunOS gave up, and rebooted.
- On one disk fsck also gave a lot of (several hundreds) 'partially allocated inode' and
- 'unknown filetype'.
-
- Facts:
- - We used format without having Fujitsu M2652 in the /etc/format.dat,
- it appears that the information came from the disk.
- - We used the 'original' defect command + commit.
- - Format (+ analyze) went smooth without any trouble.
- - We partioned the disks using all of it as 'h' partition
-
- Help very welcome!
