  15. We have been successfully running SUNLINK SNA3270 over a 9.6Kbps line
  16. between our SUN 670 motherboard serial port and our SNA mainframe.  Due
  17. to popularity of the link, we upgraded it to 48Kbps just over a week ago.
  18. Since then, we have lost the link 7-8 times - we are getting many HDLC
  19. ABORT sequences during heavy load and sometimes the frame sequences are
  20. repeatedly sent so many times incorrectly from the SUN end that the mainframe
  21. resets the link (with a SNRM) - after this, we have to bounce the SUNLINK
  22. SNA3270 software to get the link to restart. We have reported the problem
  23. to SUN 2 days ago, and are awaiting a response.  Meanwhile, I have noticed 
  24. several postings on these groups regarding problems with high speed modems,
  25. and we are thinking that our problem is just another one of the same kind,
  26. reportedly solved by a fix costing $950/cpu from Sun Consulting?  Are we
  27. correct in this?  Has anyone successfully ran their SNA3270 link reliably
  28. at 48K under heavy load WITH or WITHOUT this patch?

  30. It seems to us that the problems occur only under heavy link load (thru the
  31. serial port) and maybe also when the machine is heavily loaded (esp with
  32. other I/O) - is this likely?  Can some SUN guru suggest an explanation for
  33. this - eg, can we make it better or worse by raising or lowering the priority
  34. of the SUNLINK software?
