- Periodically when I am reading in tapes from a 9 track
- drive to our external hard drive, the system crashes with
- the following message:
-
-
- panic: bad rmfree
- zs3: silo overflow
- syncing file systems... panic: zero
- 00278 low-memory static kernel pages
- 00203 additional static and sysmap kernel pages
- 00000 dynamic kernel data pages
- 00101 additional user structure pages
- 00000 segmap kernel pages
- 00000 segvn kernel pages
- 00100 current user process pages
- 00077 user stack pages
- 00759 total pages (759 chunks)
-
- dumping to vp fd819764, offset 148188
- sm0: sd6, unit online
- mb_mapfree: MR == 0!!!
- 759 total pages, dump succeeded
- rebooting...
-
-
- (though this is the first time it had the z3:silo overflow
- message).
-
- The system is a Sun 4/330 running OW 3.0 (happened under 2.0 as well),
- SunOS 4.1.2, 3 items on the SCSI bus (1 exabyte, 1 hard drive, 1 CDROM),
- a Xylogics model 472 tape drive (9track), and an Aviv vme-multibus
- adaptor (model bc 500).
-
- Anyone have any clues? I think it is tied in with the tape drive
- as it only occurs when I am reading in tapes. It can occur when I am
- only reading tapes or when lots of stuff is going on in the background.
-
- Thanks
- John
