- Yo all.
-
- I have a small question about NIS+. Will it do
- something like this:
-
- root_server:
-
- user1:*:UID:GID:GCOS:HOME:SHELL
- user2:*:UID:GID:GCOS:HOME:SHELL
- user3:*:UID:GID:GCOS:HOME:SHELL
-
-
- client_of_root:
-
- user2:*:UID:GID:GCOS:HOME:SHELL
- user3:*:UID:GID:GCOS:HOME:SHELL
- user4:*:UID:GID:GCOS:HOME:SHELL
-
-
- client_of_client_of_root:
-
- +::0:0::
-
-
- I want user1 to be able to log into root_server, and client_of_root.
- User2 can log into root_server, client_of_root, and client_of_client_of_root.
- User4 can only log into client_of_client_of_root.
-
- In other words, I want a client to be a server also. And potentially,
- (not always) serve different maps.
-
-
- Also, does NIS+ allow you to change the maps on a machine from another
- machine. IE: without doing:
-
- rsh -n ${machine} sed ...
-
- Also, if anyone has had experience with the NIS+ package for SunOS
- 4.1.x, could you send me any pittfalls/advantages/groans/gossip?
-
- Thanks.
-
- PS:
- If warranted, I'll post a summary.
