- This is a question for those of you adventurous souls that are
- already trying out Solaris 2.0.
-
- We have been directed to build a system with the following requirements:
- Sun Sparc 2, SYS5V4 (Solaris 2.0), Motif 1.2,...
- to be completed by next fall.
-
- I have many concerns about this approach, but right now I am thinking
- about Solaris 2.0. Management has read the words 'compatability mode'.
-
- What is this exactly? What are its drawbacks? What about performance?
- Is this a Sun equiv. of the DOS box under Windows (BSD under SYSV)?
-
- I would be very interested in any information that would either help
- me refute this requirement; or calm my fears that we are taking a
- great technical risk with this approach.
