- I have been running NIS, DNS and the automounter for 5 months and life has
- been good. I am using SPARC 2's and IPX's running SunOS 4.1.2. This past week I
- have run into a wall regarding netgroups. It seems to be related to the
- order that things are listed in /etc/exports. Here is an example:
-
- /usr/export/work -access=sailpc:sail
- /export/projects/disk1 -access=sail:sailwks:sailpc
-
- sailpc is a netgroup consisting of 4 PC's running PC/NFS, sail is a group
- consisting of 3 IPX's, sailwks is 2 Tektronix workstations. If sailpc is
- listed first, it can almost always mount successfully. If it is listed last,
- it almost never mounts. The frustrating part is that it is consistently
- inconsistent! I am not having this problem with any other netgroup. I have
- made one of the SPARC 2's part of the sailpc group as a test and it also
- fails. This same SPARC 2 is part of another netgroup that *ALWAYS* works!
- I am aware of one bug about the size of each netgroup not being greater than
- 1024 bytes and I have also cruised the SunSolve CD. Logic says just change
- the order and try and live withit except it doesn't always mount. Another
- concern is will I get bit by something else later?
-
- Any theories appreciated. Thanks in advance.
