  24. At present there is no newsgroup in Usenet devoted to the discussion
  25. of fault tolerance.

  27. While we were discussing the creation of 'comp.sys.stratus', several
  28. people expressed a desire to see the creation of a related newsgroup.
  29. The best name proposed was 'comp.arch.fault-tolerant', and its charter
  30. would be broad enough to encompass systems that are configured for
  31. "high availability" (the latest buzzterm) as well as systems that are
  32. designed from the ground up for "hard" fault-tolerance.

  34. Perhaps the time is ripe to issue a Request for Discussion (RFD) on
  35. the creation of 'comp.arch.fault-tolerant'.  Would one of the folks
  36. who previously advocated this idea like to take on the task of
  37. cheerleading an effort to create the group?

  39. I've set the follow-up newsgroup for this message to "news.groups",
  40. since that is really where the matter of creating the "c.a.f-t" group
  41. should be discussed.
