Having followed the last few rounds of discussion on third-party gear and
hearing some negative comments about Micropolis drives, I am suddenly faced
with the choice between two 3.5 inch/1.2 GByte disks, one of which (of
course) is a Micropolis.  The other is an HP and I would take it in an
instant if it were not for the almost $500 difference in price!  This beast
will become the system drive in an R4000 Indigo/Elan and so we don't need
a flaky unit, but the supplier is a good one we have dealt with in the
past (Parity) and claims to have a hundred such drives in customers'
machines without any problems.  The drive comes with the usual 5yr guarantee
and will be supported directly by Parity for the first year.

Am I being paranoid about this, are the problems with Micropolis drives
just urban legend, or are these the disk drives from hell?  Any comments
would be very useful right about now...
