- I, too, have been examining this same field. I have seen the output of
- MGI's Solitaire, and it is quite *excellent*. For going to 35mm cine, the
- standard resolution I've heard is 2048x1536. For more demanding
- applications, upping it to 4K may be required.

- If 35mm cine is all you need, their 8K product will be way overkill. I
- would suggest that you may want to consider their Solitaire-4 product.
- This, I believe, can be field-upgraded later to a Solitaire-8 or -8xp, as
- needed.

- The film transports can be EXPENSIVE, particularly the Oxberrys, although
- they are good. A good transport to start with may be the "mini-cine," since
- it can be converted to other formats, as well.

- The Solitaire supports SCSI and GPIB interfacing. For your SGI, using the
- SCSI will be the simplest. There are outboard SCSI-to-GPIB boxes available,
- if you wanted the SGI to appear as a device on the GPIB.
