- The VideoFramer will frame-grab single images, and work on a 4D/320S.
- There are , however, some things you should consider;
-
- 1. The images grabbed will have to be (initially) at "normal" video
- resolutions, i.e., 640 x 480, 720 x 486, etc. They can then be filtered
- to whatever resolution you desire, using any one of a number of image
- processing tools.
-
- 2. The VideoFramer is designed to grab frames off of a single-frame accurate
- VTR using an animation controller, and not to stream frames onto a hard disk
- at 10-15 fps. You could set it up to grab every second or third frame off of
- a videotape and let it go off and do this process in the background, but each
- grab will take between 7-22 seconds.
-
- 3. We do have products (IndigoVideo, VideoLab) that are more suited to this
- task, but they won't work on a server.
-
- 4. Remember that since you are using a 320S (which has no graphics capability),
- you will not be able to view the frames on the host machine, but rather
- must transfer them to a graphics workstation or to videotape, etc.
-
- 5. Since the VideoFramer is clearly a non-real-time product, the disk drive
- speed does not become a factor.
