- (Once again, not the most appropriate newsgroup, but I always
- seem to get some of my best info from comp.sys.sgi...)
-
- I recently posted regarding what services were available for transfer of
- high-resolution digital animations to 35mm movie film. I received a
- large number of _very_ helpful responses. As I received 4 more in today's
- mailbox I want to wait until after the weekend to post a summary.
-
- We do computer animations on video, mostly for accident reconstruction and
- scientific visualization. We have a client who is very interested
- in getting animations of their scientific data before a large audience
- at science centers or similar environments.
-
- Two rather interesting possibilities for this project are:
-
- 1) IMAX/OMNIMAX format (maybe even in polarized stereo 3D)
- 2) The Evans & Sutherland DIGISTAR planetarium projection system
- (Apparently this is a real-time non-stereo 3D-geometry system)
-
- If you are a member of a company that:
-
- -- offers services for IMAX film format work
- (Digital image recording, processing, etc.)
- -- has made an IMAX or OMNIMAX film and has antecdotal info regarding
- production costs or problems with the format
- -- creates DIGISTAR presentations
- -- has had experience with DIGISTAR geometry formats, camera motion
- formats, etc.
-
- please contact me. Once again, I will post a summary of the responses
- I receive. Because we are trying to come up with possible budget ranges for
- this project, I am particularly interested in pricing information
- (approximate information is fine).
-
- If you want any information you give me kept confidential, please tell
- me so in your response.
-
- If you want to FAX me price schedules (_very_ helpful), our fax # is:
-
- (515) 296-7025
-
- Thank you in advance.
