- Hi, Alan - I believe we've met, actually! I run the CGI department
- at what *used* to be Side Effects - we've completely restructured and
- now changed our name to Spin Productions. As memory serves you came
- over to do some recording some time ago - I may be wrong.
-
- =>Another thing you may want to look into, is a product called "Flame"?
- =>I'm not sure of the exact name, but I think that was it. It issomething

-
- Actually, I'm familiar with both - we're getting Canada's first Henry
- in a week or so, which is the next generation after Harry. The only
- problem with it is that it's a single machine bottleneck, so we'd like
- to get a paintbox and I'd like to push for an SGI solution rather than
- spend loads of money on a HAL. I'm finding that the paint programs are
- few and far between, though. "Flame" is an as-yet-unreleased product
- from the people who make 'Eddie'(which we use) which is basically Eddie
- on speed - it will run on a power series and really tries to compete
- with Henry rather than a paintbox, although it will have a paint module.
- Rather a bit of overkill for us but I'm certainly keeping tabs on it.
- If only someone would write something similar for the Reality Engine -
- it would really sing!
- I'm checking out Liberty - everyone seems to refer to it a lot so
- either it's really good or it's that only half decent paint program on
- SGI. :-)
- Maybe I'll bump into you at SMPTE next week.
- Cheers,
-
- J.C.
