- I had a similar experience; the problem is with the PCMCIA card.
- If you keep the card out of the slot except when it is needed, the
- battery life appears to be as advertised and the card's backup
- battery keeps its data intact. Apparently, when the card is in the slot,
- it consumes power like functioning SRAM whenever the machine is on, and
- somehow continues to draw some power when the system is turned off.
