- I have a usual novell setup with a pair of servers running Novell 3.11
- talking 10baseT to a pair of 48port hubs.
-
- I have a couple of users who want to run IP over the network to talk
- with a couple of (until now) stand-alone QNX hosts.
-
- I have never setup an IP network before... Let me tell you what I do
- understand by watching this group.
-
- 1. Bind IP to the novell drivers and allow forwarding to get everyone on.
- (at the server level)
-
- 2. Get ODI drivers from IPX and the LSL, etc stack running.
-
- How does the numbering system work in IP. Are there references on this?
- What do I need for packet drivers? Are there standard ones for Intel
- Etherexpress 16s or does ODI make that independant of the actual cards?
- My HP Hubs might need tweeking to work with IP too as I recall.
-
- The topology is like this:
-
- Server1 <---- Thinnet --> Server2 <-- Thinnet --> HP Ethertwist Hub+ <-10BaseT
- Server1 <---- Thinnet --> Server2 <-- Thinnet --> Ditto <-- 10BaseT --> users
-
- Note: Dual Thinnet so each Hub is an independant network with each
- hub talking directly to each server.
-
- Thanks folks!
-
- Ian.
-
- P.S. Please send mail to me to reduce the network bandwidth. I will summarize
- back to the network for others that are interested.
