  14. Ok, this is probably a stupid question or a FAQ, but I'm stymied!

  16. I have an HpIIIp and I'm trying to hook it up to my NeXT color slab,
  17. but nothing seems to work.  I tried using the PrintManager.  I identified
  18. the printer as one of the several HPs listed (V2.0, BTW) and used
  19. the serial cable I have for connecting my DeskJet to my PC (gulp). I also
  20. tried using my modem cable supplied by Nextconnection, but nothing
  21. spits out.  In fact, the printer just sits there, no blinking, nothing,
  22. as if to say "Get Real, ask a programmer or something, I'm not 
  23. cooperating with a mere mortal." I press the "test" button and nothing
  24. happens except the file gets put in the queue.  I also tried lpr with 
  25. the appropriate printer name, but again, nothing happens except that 
  26. the queue is now the length of the Tigres.

  28. So, what do I do?  I even looked in my printcap file, but I wouldn't
  29. know what to put there since the example is for a Laserwriter or 
  30. some such.  I suspect the printcap is the answer, but I thought the
  31. PrintManager is supposed to *deal* with this.  Or, do I need another
  32. "special" non-NeXT printer serial cable for $149.95 plus tax?

  34. So, what do I do and how do I do it?

  37. obviously I could miss the answer. I mean I'm missing half my brain
