- O.K., here is a good question for you UNIX gurus. I had left my machine
- (a working NeXTstation 20/200 running 3.0) for about 2 hours. When I
- came back the screen was totally black. A little odd. I managed to
- fix that problem with the brightness on the keyboard, but that's when
- I noticed that my NeXT was dead.
-
- That's right, nothing worked, at all. I did the "command" "command" "~"
- thing to get to the ROM monitor. I typed msg=12 to get the last couple
- of messages, and what I saw I have no idea what it means. This is recited
- from memory, because after fixing the problem I can't seem to find the
- error listed anywhere. Anyway, the error reads as:
-
- dubtkin getting traffic on inactive circuit
-
- What does this mean? Is it very bad?
-
- After reading this I tried to reboot. It did nothing. I had to pull the
- plug to get it back. This is where the next problem comes up. When I
- powered back up, the screen (monochrome BTW) was very (I mean very) dim.
- After all the sync'ing of the disk and a clean reboot I was able to bring
- the screen back to full brightness. Why was it dim?
-
- Any help, hints, or just a good guess would be very much appreciated.
-
-
- Thanks,
-
