- To (briefly) follow up my followup, I thought this deserved another line or two
- of explanation:

- In Postscript, you would never edit the ASCII PS file to stick in resolution
- information because the resolution is implicit in the device you are sending
- the PS file to for it to be rendered on. With RenderMan, you are (in the end)
- always sending it to prman, the PhotoRealistic Renderer, and therefore need
- (want) to instruct it what resolution to render at. Actually, if you are a
- hardcore production person, there is one (at least) area in PostScript where
- this would be an issue: lines per inch. Depending on the resolution of your
- final output device, you might hack the PS file to have a different screen
- value. Actually, the same might go for flatness of strokes. Hmmm... anyway,
- the analogy of PS/2D RIB/3D holds up pretty well in explaining this stuff, so I
- hope this has been useful...
